All you have to do is , get number 1 up on compression , set the crank balancer mark on 12 degrees on the cam chain cover degree scale , then install the distributor with the rotor button pointing directly at number 1 spark plug wire in the distributor cap , then snug the distributor down enough it will stay there , and start the motor if your getting gas , its that simple , how do I know that ............

Well, Waylon! I'm right there with you. Last August I had a problem with heat exhaustion that kicked my butt. A month later, when I was just starting to feel like I had a little energy again, Covid hit me for the first time. Kicked my butt again, really bad. The Covid wasn't bad but the way it left me was WAY down. I am a wood turner, I make things out of wood on my lathe, and I really enjoy it. I have only ventured out to my shop a couple of times when someone wanted a specific item made. I also experienced the phenomena of walking into the shop, looking around, and going back in the house. I just didn't have it in me. Last week I finally started spending a little time in the shop every day, just starting to clean it up again, which it needs very badly. I can't make anything until I get it back into order. But I am getting there. There is still a lot we don't know about that virus. At our age, we can't take much of this stuff. Thanks China.

Now, that is something I've never seen. A camshaft come out with the heart still in the power barn! Cool stuff. Noa changing oil on the ground... Waylon, before I watched your channel I didn't know there was a way to change oil other than on the GROUND. Hahaha

For me,and for Waylon I guess Those hand tools give way more satisfaction, you're not trying to beat Flat Rate and you'll have way less snapped off stuff too The last cam I did was on a Ford I-6 Econoline-we had to make a window in the grill Nobody ever noticed the hack! You can't even come close to buying a beautiful squarebody for $8 grand.Maybe a rust bucket with a oil burner hitting 200,wrapped around the odometer a few times and a slipping trans

Also... There no need to have put rollers rockers on that engine. The expense just can't be justified on that engine unless you're going to do a rebuild with a bunch of other upgrades. We all love that fancy stuff until we get the bill!

What cam grind did you go with? sounds real good. I used the Rotella T4 for years but switched to the Mobil 1 European 0W40 oil instead and been very happy with it in my flat tappet engines. Flows awesome in the winter but still 40 weight when hot, plenty of zinc and phosphorous and noticed reduced oil consumption in some engines using it. Price ain't bad, 12 quart bag in box from walmart free delivery is like $59. Apparently Rotella contains a different type of zinc better suited for low RPM diesel engines and doesn't protect as well at higher RPM but I never had any problems with it so not sure there.

I keep seeing that broken rear intake bolt (driver side). Why haven't you fixed it ? Eventually it's going to leak water, possibly inside the engine.

I tried, ive heated it, I tried to drill it and use an easy out and I have not been able to get it out. next step is to try and get enough weld on it so I can weld a nut to it and hopefully from all the heat it will turn out. it hasn't leaked yet but I know what you're saying.. I just needed to get it out of the shop for right now.. I won't be driving it this winter.
